Mendoza's mountain backdrop and arid climate makes it a perfect setting to spend an evening gazing into the clear, open sky. Astroturismo is brand new excursion that takes you to a perfect observation point to gaze into each of the region's skies and learn about the stars, constellations, planets, moon, sun and other celestial bodies. The whole experience begins with a small trek into the reserve of El Divisadero Largo. With its light and clean air, it is the perfect place to get lost in the atmosphere.
Some of the observations may include:
- Moon phase
- Jupiter and its Galilean moons
- Orion Nebula
- The Milky Way and Constellations
- Some of the constellations to spot are: Gemini, Taurus, Cancer , Leo , Orion , Canis Major , Canis Minor .
- Clusters 47 Toucan, Pleiades
- Double Stars
For more information contact the Coordination of Tourism of the Municipality at (261) 449-5185 / 5186. Registration is online and opens every Wednesday before the scheduled event. Excursions are limited to 24 people.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing. To make your observation even more comfortable, it is recommended that you bring a mat or comfortable padding. It is also advised to carry water and snacks. If the skies are cloudy on the day of your scheduled observation, be sure to call to see if there is a cancellation. Cancelled observations will be rescheduled.
