The most important classical musical event in the region will take place from April 12th and run through April 20th, coinciding with the traditional celebration of Easter.
2014 is the event's 14th year, and the Classical Music for the Wine Roads Festival was born out of the idea that while visitors are drawn to Mendoza for its wine, there is also a lot more culture and art the province can offer to visitors to further enhance the wine tasting experience.
This year the exquisite sounds from local, national and international musicians will once again fill chapels, churches, wine cellars and historical sites throughout the province. The 2014 event will commemorate Argentine composer, Guillermo Graetzeri during the 50th year anniversary of his death.
Tickets can be purchased from the Ministry of Culture (located on the corner of Gutiérrez and España in downtown Mendoza City). For more information, visit the ground floor of the Ministry of Culture, or go to www.cultura.mendoza.gov.ar.
Pick up a free Mendoza Wine Region Map from a tourist information booth to help you plan your route. With sometimes more than 8 concerts in a 24-hour period, you’ll have to pick and choose what to attend. Try for 2-3 concerts in the same region of Mendoza and you’ll be able to sample the best of the Festival without rushing back and forth across the city.
