On Argentina’s most patriotic holiday, May 25th, Argentina’s wine regions will participate in a event designed to support local charities and to add a twist to the usual wine tourism. On Saturday, a handful of local wineries will greet the public in celebration of the second annual Bodegas Abiertas (open wineries) celebration.
Sponsored by Bodegas Argentinas, the goal of the event is to make winery visits more accessible to Mendoza natives and tourists alike.
Participating locations include wineries in the Mendoza, Neuquén and Salta provinces. Winery tours will be offered at differing times throughout the day, though most offer 3-4 tours between 9:30 AM and 4 PM. The complete list of participating wineries can be found at: http://caminosdelvino.org.ar/bodegas-abiertas/
Wine tastings will include two to three wines, depending on the winery. However, visitors are welcome to order additional or different wines, though there may be additional costs attached.
Entry to each winery will cost visitors one 800-gr carton of powdered milk (one carton for two tickets). This year, the milk will be donated to the Federation of Non-government entities for Childhood and Adolescence of Mendoza Province (The FEDEM).
In addition to supporting FEDEM, Bodegas Abiertas organizers will reward designated drivers for exercising safe driving practices and not participating in the wine tastings.
